Race Day DetailsPLEASE NOTE: This
information is subject to change.
We strongly suggest packet pickup and registration on Friday
between 5PM and 8PM at The Casino Building in Asbury Park, NJ at the foot of
Asbury and Ocean Avenues on the boardwalk.
Race morning pickup is available from 5 to 6 AM only at race site.
Packet Pick-up and
Post Registration:
Day before race: 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM only at transition area.
Race morning: 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM only at the transition area

Triathlon Clinic
Friday night at 6:30 PM at the transition area.
Transition
Transition area opens on at 5:30 AM on race morning and
closes at 10:00 AM. Rack sections will
be marked to correspond to wave assignment.
When racking your bikes, please try to use the seat to hang on the
racks. This will take up less room so we can try to fit everyone in. Don't take
up too much real estate, try to alternate both sides of the racks. Please try to get 8 bikes per rack. Wrist bands and bike numbers will be given to
all registered athletes at packet pickup. You must wear this at all times, it
is your entry to the transition area. Athletes only in transition area,
please. In addition, there is security
at transition exits to ensure bike security.
Transition area will be broken down starting at 10:00 AM so please make
sure you pack up and remove your equipment before then.
Race Start Times
6:50 AM -- 39 and under males followed by all females and
then 40 and over male with AquaVelo and Relay participants. Duathlon will start on boardwalk at the same
time as the last wave. Each wave will be
approximately 3 minutes apart.
Parking
Best bet is street parking (metered spots, please make note
of your spot number and feed the meters at the pay stations). Paid parking along the waterfront is now
being enforced from 9AM to 9PM every day. The rate for all numbered spaces on Ocean
Avenue is $1.00 per hour with a maximum limit of 3 hours. The rate for all other numbered spaces is
$.50 per hour without any time limits. The meter machines take cash (no change
given) or debit cards, MasterCard, Visa or Discover Card only! After you have
paid at the meter machines, please keep your receipt (no need to take back to
your car). You may use ANY meter to buy or add time.
Bathrooms
The public bathrooms (about 2 blocks north on the boardwalk)
will be open. In addition there will be
some porta johns near transition area.
Swim Start Waves
(Subject to change, based on number of participants when
online registration closes on Thursday at midnight)

Race Morning
Timing Chip
Your chip goes on your left ankle, to the outside, up arrow
on chip should face up. Make sure it is UNDER your wetsuit. See Instruction
Sheet. YOU WILL PICK THIS UP ON SATURDAY
AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE TRANSITION AREA (3-4 SEPARATE LINES BY NUMBER), YOU WILL
THEN ALSO BE BODY MARKED.
Body Marking
Volunteers will be in and around transition area and
registration / packet pick up for body marking before the race start.
Course Details
Swim
First wave is at 6:50 AM.
Walk directly down to the beach from the transition area. Swim will be straight out 150 yards and then back
150 yards. You will go around the buoys,
keeping them on your left at all times, go around the turn buoy and swim straight
in to the finish on the other side of the line.
Bike
Please ride to the right and proceed with caution. We have police stationed at intersections
when traffic has the right of way and volunteers at all turns to assist in
directing cyclists.
Remember - ROADS ARE NOT CLOSED TO TRAFFIC! Be cautious at
all intersections, we have police officers on the course to assist in safety,
but you are responsible for watching out for crazy drivers (as usual) People
can cross the course and cut you off at any race, not just this one. Be Safe!!!
It is always the responsibility as an athlete to be familiar
with the course
Run
2 Mile Run / First
Duathlon Run:
Start at "Duathlon Start" sign on boardwalk near
transition exit. Duathlon will start
with the last wave. Run one mile west
along Wesley Lake to turnaround, then back to transition area.
3 Mile Run:
Athletes will run left out of transition area west along
Wesley Lake then back east along the Ocean Grove side of Wesley Lake, turn left
thru the Casino Building towards the south end of the boardwalk thru Convention
Hall to the turnaround sign and back.
Please follow signs and volunteer direction. There will be a water table
at the run exit and at approximately each mile on the run course. Please stay to the right.
Please follow signs and cones delineated to channel athletes
and keep spectators of course. Please be courteous to all spectator and
walkers, they also belong there and are enjoying the weather and some exercise
just as you are. Share the boardwalk.
A Few Notes
Please remember to thank the volunteers.
Please do not drop gel packs or other items on the course.
Some races disqualify people for doing that.
Please remove ALL items from transition when you leave.
No headphones on the bike or run please.
Remember, seconds don't count, safety does. Be safe and as always HAVE FUN!
